Artist Statement

I love drawing inspiration from myself. Most importantly to strip myself off both physically and figuratively. The recurring theme is painting people and what surrounds me. My techniques have changed to let the process feel easier as a I can focus on other things such as abstraction, colours and composition without undermining them. This time, the references will be less focused on random ideas but rather myself and other pseudo references to my art. However, the style of my paintings are inspired by semi abstract paintings found on other artists combining themselves and their moods. Paintings that have beautiful combinations of colours while also incorporating realistic figures and objects. I love underpainting as it gives you a clear set up, letting you later prioritize colour application. I stop once my brushstrokes feel less intentional.
